A kindergarten inspired by the John Hejduk 3X3 grid house. This project is focus on the effect of the materiality, instead of materiality its own; and, it brings up the notion of how materiality manipulates the user experience. Materiality allows the architecture to expose the assembling of structure which introduces the idea of deconstructivism and post- modernism, etc. As for this project, it explores the idea of immateriality using different material texture to define the space for the user. When people lose the sensibility of color in their visual ability, people’s insight would become more sensitive then usual. Following with the idea, differentiating the space with the roughness and softness texture from the wood and glass, it allows the users to acknowledge the effect that material provides as well as an indication of the program. Therefore, under these conditions, it produces an achromatic architecture.
